Ducati rider Nicky Hayden preparing for tough weekend at Japanese Grand Prix – MotoGP news
Ducati rider Nicky Hayden is expecting that the Japanese Grand Prix will be a tough race weekend.
The Twin Ring Motegi circuit will be hosting the 15th MotoGP round of 2011 after postponement from being the third event of the season. It will be the first Asian premier class event in the 2011 season.
The Kentucky Kid will be trying hard to further develop his GP11.1, which was first tested at his home event in Laguna Seca. After feeling comfortable with the GP11.1, he raced with it during the Indianapolis GP.
Hayden does not like the Motegi circuit but hopes to be better at the twisty technical track.
Hayden said, “I’ve got a lot of fans in Japan, and there are a lot of people who love motorcycles. It would be nice to put on a good show for them, as they’ve certainly had a hard time this year. The radiation situation seems to be under control, so earthquakes
are the only concern.”
In March 2011, Japan was struck by a high rector-scale earthquake and tsunami. The disaster shook the country and created life-threatening situations. The Fukushima nuclear plant was destroyed during the disaster. The damage to the nuclear plant caused radioactive
radiations in the surroundings.
Though the Motegi circuit is about 100 kilometres away from the Fukushima plant but it was rumoured that it is harmful to carry out an event at the venue. However, the rumours were declined after a detailed testing and research.
Hayden further added, “Hopefully we can have a good race. Motegi has probably been my worst track since I’ve been with Ducati, as I’ve struggled to get turned in those hairpin corners and get out strong. I’m not expecting an easy weekend, but Ducati is really
working hard.”
The Bologna factory is focused to provide its riders the best opportunities to stand as the winning riders in the class. Since the start of the season, Ducati have gone through many changes and tried many different changes but have not achieved desired results.
Even then, the Italian team has not given up and aims to search for better options for development. The Ducati team has collected a lot of technical data from its test sessions and used it to analyse the weak areas which might help the team in the long run.
