Ducati rider Nicky Hayden tests new Desmosedici GP12 – MotoGP news
Nicky Hayden got the day to lay his hand on the new Ducati Desmosedici GP12, 1000cc version.
Hayden tested the new 2012 prototype on Saturday, just a day after his teammate Valentino Rossi did on the same track of Jerez.
Hayden’s best racing times are form the 990cc era, so he was seen eager to hop on the 1000cc machine. The MotoGP World Champion of 2006 had a struggling time to get into the lines of high speed cornering and almost no power slides, 800cc racing world.
Not like Rossi’s test day, Hayden was less fortunate to start his test day. The Kentucky kid was in garage until later noon, due to the unpleasant conditions the track was wet with high humidity. The Ducati team rider was looking to lose a day of most awaited
test run of GP12, and felt disappointed.
“When I woke up this morning, the sky was really gray and the track was completely wet,” said Nicky Hayden. “I was pretty disappointed. I didn’t think we’d be able to do anything because it wouldn’t have made sense to waste a day testing in those conditions.”
After the lunch time the sun came out bright and dried the track giving good riding conditions for the test laps. The day and the track got better as the time passed by, as Hayden was able to get in his racing leathers and seemed desperate to get aboard
the new GP12. It is an honour to get test a prototype in its first testing on the track, which is rare to experience. After almost running continuously, Hayden did 61 laps and felt that it was a special feeling to experience.
Everything at the test went well, with no such problems that could hinder a good testing day. The engine is good and fun to ride. Hayden gave useful information in feedback to Filippo Preziosi and the crew. The team will be working on this next season bike,
as the team riders Hayden and Rossi will continue to focus back on the upcoming bwin Grande Premio de Portugal.
Nicky Hayden is well known for his hard effort in the MotoGP paddock. He has often ended with most lap runs by the end of a test session. The seven-year MotoGP experienced rider is always in front to help solve the on-track technical issues with bike. His
riding abilities make no surprise when he counted 61 laps by the end of the test day, even after having limited time left after the mid-day start.
Ducati Corse Technical Director, Filippo Preziosi praised Hayden’s hard work and professional work ethics that he never gives up to do his work in possible best way.
The three-day test ended with about 1000 kilometres on the new Ducati GP12, which is a great achievement, as there is often a problem tempering the test other than weather issues.
“First of all, I’d like to thank everyone at Ducati,” said Filippo Preziosi, “Because thanks to their hard work and expertise, it was possible to carry out three days of trouble-free testing.”
