Ducati rider Valentino Rossi geared up to race at Phillip Island despite injured finger – MotoGP
Ducati Team rider Valentino Rossi is all ready to race at Phillip Island with improving fracture on the little finger from Motegi.
The Italian rider took a fall during the Japanese Grand Prix in the initial lap.
He hit both Yamaha factory riders Jorge Lorenzo and Ben Spies, in sequence of crashes and ended in run off gravel. The crash also affected Spies to run wide.
Following his detailed check up and medical assistance he is now feeling better with his hand. Rossi hopes he will have fewer troubles.
Rossi said, “The finger has a small fracture but the situation improved a lot because I'm quite good. I have some problem with the bike to grip the handlebar and the clutch. But the pain is less every day, so we hope that it will not be a problem for the
weekend.”
Due to the fractured little finger on his left hand he had to skip the last official test day in the season for the 2012 GP12 machine. This caused Hayden to hop back from Kentucky and conduct the session.
Apparently, there was no damaged diagnosed on Rossi’s hand. Later when he returned to Italy he suffered from severe pain and swelling on his left hand. He had to undergo detailed x-rays which eventually revealed a hairline fracture on his artificial joint
in little finger.
Rossi further added, “The doctor said to me he didn’t see anything, but told me when I got home to try another time. On Tuesday morning I go and that’s when I saw the fracture. I have to call Filippo (Preziosi) and then Nicky had to come back and make the
test.”
‘The Doctor’ himself had to visit the doctor for a thorough examination and was advised to take rest. Rossi said that he was facing some unease to grip the handle bar. Still he is optimistic for the Phillip Island raceday. He also added that his finger is
getting better day by day.
At the moment, Rossi and Hayden have high hopes for the weekend but it looks difficult that Ducati will dominate for a consecutive fifth season.
