Ducati rider Valentino Rossi hopes to improve GP11.1 for the Japanese Grand Prix – MotoGP news
Ducati rider Valentino Rossi is keen to improve his GP11.1 for the 15th MotoGP round, the Grand Prix of Japan.
The event will take place at the Twin Ring Motegi circuit on October 2, 2011.
Rossi said, “I had a nice race last year at Motegi, despite having a painful shoulder. I had a good duel with Lorenzo, and I finished on the podium. The Ducati won last year and has also gone well there in the past, so we’ll see if we can do any better than
we have at the recent races.”
The nine-time world champion vows to extract better results out of his effort. Considering Ducati’s 2010 performance at the Motegi, he is hopeful to be in better shape.
Earlier in the season, Rossi tried many ideas to perk up the performance of his GP11. In the process, he opted to use the 2012 chassis with 800cc which slightly improved the pace but quickly reached its limit.
The Italian veteran has claimed six podium finishes at the Japanese Motegi circuit. His third place finish at the venue in 2010 was earned after a tough battle with former teammate at Yamaha, Jorge Lorenzo.
Former Ducati rider Casey Stoner won the Japanese GP in 2010 aboard the GP10. The technical data from his last performance will be reviewed to search for a proper race setup for Rossi.
Rossi further added that the team enters every race weekend with progressive approach.
He said, “It’s true that we have to work very hard, but we always approach every Grand Prix with the goal of doing better.”
After a debut race with an aluminium frame at Motorland Aragon in his GP11.1, he is now looking forward to enhance the race setup. Apparently, the frame has shown no signs of improvement, but a critical tyre wear was also causing hindrance.
Valentino Rossi is currently seated at sixth place on the world championship points table. Meanwhile Rossi’s teammate Nicky Hayden is just behind him at seventh position. Despite of all problems, the Italian is ranked as the top Ducati rider in the 2011
championship.
