Ducati team rider Valentino Rossi completes Ducati GP12 test at Mugello – MotoGP news
Ducati team rider Valentino Rossi completed the test on the Ducati Desmosedici GP12 at Mugello, Italy.
The Ducati 2012 MotoGP prototype is being tested to ensure a winning final version for the next season, which will witness the comeback of 1000cc engines.
Valentino Rossi got aboard the GP12 on the final day of the test. The first day was conducted with Ducati’s other rider Nicky Hayden who gave a positive feedback on the 2012 model. On a positive side, Rossi likes to ride at Mugello and completed the test
positively.
The Italian said, “It was another positive test. We had a number of things to try, including a new step with the frame that I liked. I was already happy with the engine the first time I tried it, and now we’re also making progress with the rest of the bike.”
The Ducati team is looking forward to the competitors on how to make progress for the 2012 prototype. With all the development under progress, the team is content with its present state. Rossi completed 80 laps in his test ride and called it a good day for
testing. He was pleased to see the additions to his home ground circuit and wants to be racing here soon.
Ducati Team technical director Filippo Preziosi said, “For this test we brought an updated frame for Valentino to try along with several other interesting things, and I’m pleased to report that we received positive feedback. The lap times were better than
at the last test, which is additional confirmation that we’re working in the right direction.”
Preziosi was grateful to both factory team riders as they played a significant role in the improvement of GP12 and the teamwork put in the machine. The team is highly determined to create a season winner machine for the next season.
As Valentino Rossi has moved into the Ducati team for the 2011 season, the fans were expecting winning performance from the Italian team and rider combination. Unfortunately, Rossi has only scored a single podium at Le Mans so far in the campaign.
