Ducati technical head says they will bring a new frame and swingarm at Misano – MotoGP news
Filippo Preziosi, Corse general and technical director of Ducati unveiled that they will be introducing a new frame and swingarm in the upcoming Italian Grand Prix scheduled at Misano.
The modification will be based upon the feedback given by Valentino Rossi.
He said that during the last two days of test at Misano they focused on the chassis. He added that considering the feedback of Rossi they will be introducing a new frame and a new swingarm in the next race.
“Over these two days with Valentino, we focused on chassis testing. Based on the feedback he provided, we’ll bring a new frame and a new swingarm to the next race,” Preziosi said. “In the meantime, the Corse department will continue working according to
the development plan that was established following the June test at Aragon.”
Furthermore, he said that while they will be working over new chassis their Corse department will continue to work over the development plan they had established after the June test at Aragon.
The technical director of Ducati said that over the remainder of the season the factory riders and their test team would have an opportunity to further evaluate the chassis evolution which they are producing.
“Over the remainder of the season, the Test Team and the factory riders will have the opportunity to try further chassis evolutions, which are currently being produced,” he said.
During the test at Misano, Rossi had a busy day completing 80 test laps. The tests were based upon testing the chassis and modifications in the bike’s setup. The improved bike setup is expected to limit the worsening bike’s performance after having completed
some laps.
Ducati has only been able to attain one podium in the current 2012 season. The only podium was attained by Rossi in the France Grand Prix, where he managed to finish the race at 2nd position.
The Italian team was unable to attain more than two podiums in the last 2011 season. Nicky Hayden made it to the 3rd position in the Spanish Grand Prix while the other podium was attained by Rossi in France GP by finishing at the 3rdposition.
Let’s see will the new chassis design open the doors of success for the Ducati riders in the remainder of the season or not. Still there are 6 Grands Prix left in completion of the current season.
