Ducati’s Valentino Rossi successfully completes sixth test day aboard Desmosedici GP12 – MotoGP news
Ducati Team rider Valentino Rossi has successfully completed the sixth day of the eight-day official testing for the 2012 prototypes on a Desmosedici GP12.
The sixth day was conducted at the Mugello circuit with 82 laps on the 1000cc Desmosedici GP12. Though he crashed in the start of the session but he escaped any kind of injury or loss of confidence for the day. The test was held in a bright sunny day but
the temperatures did not rise to uncomfortable levels.
Rossi said, “It was an interesting day, although it was quite a long one as we were riding until 6.30pm. Developing a bike requires a lot of focus and effort but is also very exciting, and it's very fulfilling to be part of a group of people pushing as hard
as it can and all in the same direction.”
The Italian veteran worked throughout the session to test the modified components and the newly designed aluminium frame. New electronics were also tested in the test session.
At the test venue both Filippo Preziosi and Vittoriano Guareschi were also present in team garages to observe the proceedings. Ducati’s test rider Franco Battaini was also present at Mugello. Battaini also rode the GP12 before it was handed over to Rossi.
Rossi said, “Today we confirmed various aspects of the GP12's electronics and chassis, collecting a lot of useful information for Filippo and the guys back at the factory. I think the work is well underway as we prepare for our next steps.”
Since his last finish at seventh place in Misano, he has been even desperate to improve his ride. He has been suggesting new ideas to test different components either with new designs or materials.
However, he is determined to take his creation, GP11.1 to the next level of performance within this season. Although the time left is short but after the shift of Nicky Hayden to the GP11.1, the team and both riders are doing their best to improve their
race results as soon as possible.
