Question:

Duck eggs found...need help?

Well we found a mama duck sitting in our tall grass, and we found it made a nest with eggs. One day we came back, some eggs were cracked open, and the ducks were being formed. It was sad. The mother has been no where to be seen. We might take the eggs to help them since they are already forming. What can we do to help the eggs?

  1. They're already dead.  I'm sorry to be the one to tell you.  If you'd like, you could raise a duckling from the time that he/she pecks it's way out of the egg.  It would really bond with you.  There are places where you can buy live duck eggs, but you'll need to purchase an egg incubator beforehand.

  2. You're probably too late. A predator was most likely in the area while she was gone and now she won't come back. At least thats what I think based on what you've told me.

If you want to try to save them you'll need an incubator or heat lamp and you'll need to turn the eggs a couple of times a day.

Maybe there's a wildlife rescue in your area you could call.

    Good luck.
