  1. I dont think they are paying less, but the money you make does not go as far.  The price of gas affects everything, including food prices.

  2. True I believe. That's why so many people need to work 2 jobs just to get by.

  3. They are paying less and expecting you to do more for less pay.   It's like we are working just to be able to buy gasoline and food.  As far as paying the bills, then you need a 2nd income.

  4. It depends on the industry.  All businesses go through growth and downsizing.  If the business is growing and the industry is growing, then there are few hires around and new hires get more.  If the business is growing but the industry is slow, then businesses offer less.  If a business is downsizing, then they cut raises to their less valued employees hoping they will start looking for a better job.

As for the expenses of gas and dollar value, typically they are not related to wages.  Any business that can not pass the cost to the customer and feels their only option is to cut wages is in trouble and will soon be out of business.

  5. well , if employers are hiring at the same rate as always, the dollars buying power is much less, so essentially YES
