  1. Heh......I had this problem a matter of days ago and i finally figured out how to do it. Well, First download the Linux Distro you want. take the iso file that you downloaded and burn the image on a cd or dvd. I use imgburn as a program to do this. once its done burning, right click my computer, Manage, then Disk management and create a partition by right clicking and making the amount of space you want it to be. Than right click it again and select new absolute volume or something like that and it will be unallocated space. Now once you do this, reboot the computer with the burned CD in the drive and at boot up select change boot device order. ( its one of the f keys depends on the model, you only get a few seconds to do this).Select CD ROM and after it loads you should eventually get to Linux running as a live CD. Then go to start and then partition editor on Linux and format the unallocated space. then install (it should automatically choose the the Partition you just made to install in. You dont need to get a bootloader when you install Linux it will automatically install a bootloader. Reboot, then Select Linux. Whew, If i wasnt thorough enough here a couple tutorials:

    http://apcmag.com/how_to_dualboot_vista_...

And heres a video on how to Partition:

    Hope this helps.

  2. follow linux ubuntu geek's suggestion. i would format that second harddrive as a regular drive and then install Ubuntu with Wubi. Once you download Wubi it and run the application it will ask you what hard drive you want to use to install ubuntu

  3. I think the boot loader is already on the linux iso file

  4. Just install Linux on the 2nd Hard drive. It will ask which one.

When you boot, it will ask which one to boot.

    Dont need a boot loader.

  5. You can install Ubuntu 8.04.1 using Wubi installer. You keep Windows as it is, Wubi http://wubi-installer.org/ only adds an extra option to boot into Ubuntu. Wubi does not require you to modify the partitions of your PC, or to use a different bootloader, and does not install special drivers.

Wubi keeps most of the files in one folder, and if you do not like it, you can simply uninstall it as any other application.

    LUg.
