Duke Blue Devils continue their dream run; Beat Michigan Wolverines 82-75: NCAA Basketball Recap
Duke Blue Devils are the team to watch out for in the NCAA Basketball Tournament 2011.
Just hours ago, the college basketball powerhouses put up yet another strong performance to extend their unbeaten record to 6-0 by downing Michigan Wolverines 82-75.
Devils dominated the game right from the word go and managed to acquire a healthy lead by the end of first half. Although, Wolverines bounced backed and gave Duke a scare in the second half, they did not relinquish the lead at
any instance and won it quite convincingly in the end.
Austin Rivers, son of the legendary Boston Celtics coach Doc Rivers was in the thick of things again. He marshalled the Blue Devils with game high 20 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists. Ryan Kelly and Seth Curry both scored 17 each
whereas Andre Dawkins added 14.
Tim Hardaway Jr. was the most outstanding player from the losing side yet again. He finished with 19 points. Trey Burke was also impressive and nearly missed a double-double by scoring 17 points and 9 assists. Jordan Morgan (12)
and Zack Novak (11) were the other two players from the side who managed to end with scores in double figures.
All the big guns from Dukes fired in the beginning as they managed to reel off an 11-2 spurt to get in a commanding position right from the start.
Stu Douglass and Trey Burke scored quickly in the next few minutes to get Wolverines at 13-9 however Ryan Kelly and Rivers were in an aggressive mood and launched an onslaught to take their team ahead by 30-15.  Trey Burke jumped
in to rescue the Wolverines though and scored two back to back layups. Novak then followed him with a three to end the first half at 22-34.
Wolverines started the second half aggressively and managed to slash the deficit to 5 points 40-35 through a 13-6 run. However they failed to eliminate Duke’s advantage at any instance as Austin and Curry kept on finding baskets
regularly.
Two back to back treys from Wolverines players did make the game interesting in the last minute, 76-71; however Ryan Kelly nailed five free throws down the stretch to ensure an easy win for Duke.
