Duke University coach David Cutcliffe says Peyton Manning in "great shape" - NFL News
In 2012-13 quarterback, Peyton Manning, will don another teams jersey rather than the Indianapolis Colts blue and white after he signed for the Denver Broncos. However, the question still remains will Manning be able to provide the same level of performances
in Denver that he gave for many seasons playing at the Lucas Oil Stadium.
According to Duke University coach, David Cutcliffe, that question should never even arise. Cutcliffe has watched Manning develop into the four-time Most Valuable Player (MVP) year after year and the coach believes that even after three neck surgeries Manning
will be able to perform at his brilliant best.
Talking to the Denver Post, Cutcliffe said.
"He can make all the throws, his release times are perfect, and we pay a lot of attention to that. It's arm speed and getting rid of it. His velocity is good. It's just a matter of, like any other NFL football player, you've got to feel good.
"He's in great shape. Not good shape, great shape, and that's part of what we did here as well."
Manning missed out on the Colts 2011-12 season after failing to recover from neck injuries and was released by the franchise where he played for 13 seasons after the Colts got the number one draft pick in this year’s drafts.
Cutcliffe though is positive that Manning can play a game even right now and he will get better as he continues getting back to 100%.
"He could play a game. We've done it, we've simulated games, and he's done well. He's going to do nothing but get stronger and going to play up to his standards.”
The Broncos picked up Manning after beating competition from four other franchises for his signature and are already looking forward to the Super Bowl after the veteran’s arrival.
Denver ended the 2011-12 regular season 8-8 and winning the American Football Conference (AFC) West division thanks to former quarterback Tim Tebow’s heroics.
Tebow was traded to the Jets in return for fourth round and sixth round draft picks by the Broncos after Manning’s arrival.
Hopefully, the veteran quarterback can get back to full fitness and show the world that he still has what it takes to become the best in the league.
