Duke of Edinburgh award: worth doing or not?

Question

Hi, I was just wandering of what you thought of the Duke of Edinburgh award, because i was considering taking part this year, but just wanted opinions before actually doing so, what are your opinions?

is it good/beneficial, is it fun or not?

I loved it.  I am ashamed to say that I didn't complete it.

I did however get loads out of it.  I loved the expedition, and helped at a kids church group, learned fencing and I can't remember what my fourth thing was.

I just didn't finish it because I have ADD and find finishing anything dificult and needed to concentrate on my school work(as far as someone with ADD can!)  Though I am ashamed that I didn't complete it I am glad I did it and accept my failure as a result that my condition was not known, and I am proud of what I acheived and have some geat memories.

If you have los of energy and enthusiasm it is a great way to meet new people and discover lot's about your self.

My  mum wants me to do it but i get well confused about things i dont no enough infortmation. but one of my good friends is older then me and really enjoys it x

I think it's worth doing.  I did it years ago.

It looks great on your CV because it requires a wide range of skills.

Also, I actually ENJOYED it.  It wasn't done as a career move.

Yes do it!! Go for it.  You don't wana grow old wishing you had taken part in more  in your life.

I had fun, plus I can read maps which really baffles my husband  :)

Well I didn't do it.

But it is good experence, works up good skills than you can put onto your CV and help get a good job along with your other subjects.

My son did not do this but he did the chief scout challenge that is a bit like it .I was told by several people at the time that if 6 people went for a job and somebody had that on there c v they would get the job it shows that you will accept a challenge and you can work with other people and you are not lazy it was hard work but he did enjoy it  hope this helps
