If the iron duke had not been around you would now most likely speak French , It was he and he alone that was able to out general Napoleon and that was no mean feat . Old boney was some general having beaten just about every army that came up against him

Because he gave Napoleon and his armies a d**n sound thrashing first in Spain and then at Waterloo.
