Real Valladolid have marginally managed to escape with a 1-0 victory over their visitors, Granada, at the Estadio Nuevo Jose Zorrilla on Saturday night.
The hosts found the ice-breaking goal when http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Manucho-c23382 found the back of the net midway through the second period of the match.
It was an important win for the newly promoted side as they have got few difficult games coming their way. Valladolid will encounter the defending champions, Real Madrid, and current La Liga leaders, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604, in December.
That is the reason why they need to get maximum points from the other fixtures since those two encounters will be extremely challenging for them to pick up points from.
However, looking back on the match, Real Valladolid boss, Miroslav Dukic, gave his analysis on the match. He admitted that Granada made life difficult for them as they just sat deep at the back and believes that is why his side could not link up easily.
“We had difficulty finding the way,” the Serb remarked in front of members of the media.
“Granada fell back and we could not find space. We had possession, but couldn’t connect with our forwards,” he continued.
Dukic contributed his team’s crucial victory to the defensive solidity his backline has shown. He also had words of praise for his goal-scorer and felt that the player showed confidence when he took his chance and converted it.
“Defensive solidity was the key. The team suffered but never broke down. Manucho took his opportunity and was confident.”
Finally, the Serbian tactician has also remarked on the significance of winning at home. He believes the team’s connection with their loyal fans at home is crucial to their survival this season and has urged that they should make their home a fortress where
opponents come away with nothing.
“Today’s victory is especially significant as it comes at home. Our connection with our fans is very important and we have to make our home a fortress.”
With their win over Granada, Real Valladolid don’t have to worry about the relegation zone for now. They are currently ranked 9th in the Primera Division standings.
