Dulcote most likely to aim for the Ascot Chase
In the Leopardstown meeting, Irish Hennessy Gold Cup, that was scheduled to take place on Sunday, was postponed due to the problem of water logging, since it rained up to 26 mm overnight. However, the new date for the meeting has also been announced by the
officials of the racecourse. The new date for the postponed meeting has been revealed to be the 12
February; meanwhile the deadline for the new entries of the rescheduled meeting has been reported to be at noon, on Tuesday.
The champion racehorse, Pride Of Dulcote, was initially registered to run in the Hennessy Gold Cup which got postponed on Sunday afternoon. However, it has now been revealed that the colt will be taking part in the Grade I Betfair Ascot Chase that has been
scheduled to take place on the 19 February. In doing so, Pride Of Dulcote will be missing the rescheduled event of the Hennessy Gold Cup. The latter event will now be taking place at the Leopardstown racecourse next Saturday. This news was revealed by the
colt’s trainer Paul Nicholls.
The eight-year-old champion racehorse was amongst one of the hot favourite contenders of the Hennessy meeting before it was postponed on Sunday. The reason for the postponement of the event has been reported to be water logging. Some of the other racing
events have also been rescheduled due to the postponement of the Leopardstown meeting.
It was not long before the management of the meeting announced the rescheduled date of the race. Nonetheless, the famed trainer, Paul Nicholls, decided not to send out his trainee for this event and announced that Pride Of Dulcote will rather be staying
on the home soil and practice for the upcoming Totesport Cheltenham Gold Cup that has been scheduled to take place next month.
As a practice race for the prestigious Cheltenham Gold Cup, the champion trainer has decided that Pride Of Dulcote will miss the Hennessy Gold Cup and rather take part in the Ascot Chase. This strategy was previously used by Paul Nicholls with his champion
racehorse Kauto Star, who won the 2008 edition of the Cheltenham Gold Cup.
On the other hand, the trainee of the celebrated trainer, Indian Daudaie will be taking part in the rescheduled Leopardstown meeting instead of Pride Of Dulcote, after the trainer thought that the four-year old should be brought back home.
Meanwhile the main target for Indian Daudaie is the Grade I event, the Tote Pick Six Rollover Spring Juvenile Hurdle, according to Paul Nicholls.
