Dullahan points to the Dubai World Cup along with another heavy American contingent
The 3-year-old colt by Even the Score, Dullahan, could be going half-way across the globe to participate at Meydan just like his stable mate and Breeders’ Cup Turf winner, Little Mike, but Dullahan will be participating in the Group 1, $10 million Dubai World Cup over the Tapeta surface.
It was told by trainer Dale Romans to DubaiRaceNight.com that the Kentucky bred colt Dullahan will be participating in the Dubai World Cup, and the idea of running him against the best in the world and for the biggest purse a single race has to offer, is not farfetched.
The reason being that, Dullahan has never disappointed over the synthetic surface, and the Dubai World Cup is run over the Tapeta footings which will definitely suit the 3-year-old colt.
The Dubai World Cup will be run over a distance of 1 ¼ miles, and he could be racing against American horses like Animal Kingdom, who didn’t get a chance to participate in the race last year due to injury. Bill Mott trained Royal Delta will be back to improve on her 9th finish from last time around.
The Empire Maker filly is currently coming off, successfully defended her title, in the Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Ladies Classic at Santa Anita, and the horse who has all the chances of winning it is Wise Dan, who is also exiting victory in the Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile at Santa Anita Park.
Trained by Charles Lopresti for owner Morton Fink, the 5-year-old gelding by Wiseman’s Ferry has strung together a four race win streak, including three grade 1 victories on the trot, and in his past 11 races, Wise Dan has won 9, finished second and fourth once.
As far as Dullahan has concerned, the colt did not have a good outing in the Breeders’ Cup, as he finished a troubled 9th in the Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Turf to his stable mate Little Mike.
However, he is yet to lose a race over the synthetic surface, and all three victories over the surface has been grace 1 victories, and the Dubai World Cup could be his if he keeps his impeccable synthetic surface record intact for the fourth time.
