Dumbbell weight training for a young teen? ?

School starts in two weeks and I'm sorta on the skinny side. I'm 14 I'm 5'9 and weigh 106 pounds?

  1. Leave the weights alone until you reach your adult height.  You can always get muscles later, but you won't be able to make yourself taller.


  2. Well you can forget the two weeks of intense training you have in mind... all you could do in that time is cause yourself an injury.

    I highly suggest you set yourself a longer goal... let's say.. by 18 you wanna be truly buff.

    You can do this with dumbells and your own body weight as well as careful healthy meal planning and some cardio exercise a couple times per week.

    My son strted this a few years ago with a couple of buddies. They meet three times a week for their gym workout, some pool and Sony playstation 3.... I think they take turns on each apparatus... anyway.. it works for them... so find yourself a couple of likely gym buddies... and get to work.
