Dunaden set his sights on the prize for the Qatar Bloodstock Jockey Club Stakes
Dunaden is one of the top contenders, who is likely to score in the Qatar Bloodstock Jockey Club Stakes which is scheduled to take place at Newmarket on 5th May, 2012.
Out of the eight runners, he shows the most promise but, Masked Marvel and Meandre are not to be under-estimated.
Dunaden, trained by M. Delzangles, will make his seasonal debut in the race, and a debut in such a huge race shouldn’t be much of a problem for this experienced campaigner.
His previously completed a hat-trick, which stands as a shining moment of his career, but he will not stop there.
Today, he will break from post 2 and will try to own the race.
The son of Nicobar, out of La Marlia, started his career on 16th November, 2008, where he finished in sixth place.
Over the course of his career, he has shown remarkable improvement as he scored 9 victories out of his 25 starts.
Owned by the Pearl Bloodstock Ltd, the bay horse defeated, Thumbs Up, by ¾ of a length in the Cathay Pacific Hong Kong Vase at Sha Tin on 11th December, 2011.
Since he concluded his previous season with a victory, his odds of winning have increased.
Masked Marvel, son of Montjeu, out of mare Waldmark, is also looking in good form. In his last three races, he scored twice but faced a major setback when he finished sixteenth in his most recent start.
The John Gosden trained bay colt raced as a joint favourite in the Bahrain Trophy at Newmarket on 7th July, 2011, and finished a narrow head before Census.
The B.E. Nielsen owned runner entered the Ladbrokes St Leger Stakes with the same momentum and defeated, Brown Panther by 3 lengths at Doncaster on 10th September, 2011.
Meandre, trained by A. Fabre, may flash some brilliance on the track. The four-year-old colt competed as the evening’s favourite in the Qatar Prix Niel at Longchamp, but despite his best efforts, he fell 2 lengths behind the A. De Royer-Dupre trained,
Reliable Man, in September, 2011.
It seems that Dunaden might be able to emerge victorious from this race, but it will definitely not be an easy victory for him.
Masked Marvel may bring out his hidden potential and challenge him on the track. Meandre might finish in third place.
