Duncan Fletcher admires the progress shown by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/GP-Swann-c1501 - Cricket News Update
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/OA-Shah-c2134 spinner, Graeme Swann, admiring the progress shown by the off-spinner.
Fletcher, who has also helmed http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013’s national side in the past, believes that players have to step out of their comfort zone if they want to improve and Swann’s story is no different.
According to the Indian coach, the off-spinner developed his skills after he switched from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Nottinghamshire-c826.
“Graeme has done really well and history proves what can happen when people get out of their comfort zone and move to other counties. We have also seen it with Chris Tremlett. It is a good thing to get out of the comfort zone and realise ‘there is a http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Adam-Griffith-c919
world out there where I’ve really got to develop my game,” he shared.
He further stated, “It looks as though Swann has done that. He is playing Test cricket and is the number one bowler in the world, one of the top spinners. He is bowling well and we respect that. He just appreciates what he is required to do on and off the
field in the international arena.”
Swann is all over the news nowadays. The off-spinner has replaced New Zealand’s http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Daniel-Luca-Vettori-c52306 as the number one bowler in International Cricket Council’s ODI rankings. He is also going strong in the longest format of the game, capturing the second spot
in ICC’s Test rankings.
The 32-year-old bowler made his international debut in January 2000 in a game against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757. Fletcher was the head coach of the Poms at that point in time.
The 62-year-old coach was highly impressed by the talent which he saw in the off-spinner. Though, Swann could not retain his position as http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ashley-Fraser-Giles-c46314 was spearheading England’s bowling attack under Fletcher’s reign.
Times have changed and the 62-year-old Zimbabwean will now be in opposition to the team that he once coached for eight years. India’s tour of England will commence with a tour match against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Somerset-c843 on July 15.
Fletcher knows fully-well that this is not the same English side that he once coached. This is a new Poms outfit and only a couple of players from Fletcher’s time have retained their places.
