The newly appointed Indian coach, Duncan Fletcher, has said that no drastic changes to Indian cricket team will be made overnight. He wants to settle down in his coaching role first.
The 62-year-old Fletcher replaced http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Gary-Kirsten-c58527 who called it a day after the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011.
Fletcher said that he wants to get used to the new role first and does not believe in overnight changes, especially since India has been doing pretty well in International cricket since the last couple of years.
The former Zimbabwean captain shared that he has discussed things with Kirsten and analyzed http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750’s performance in recent times. Fletcher claimed that he has some ideas but he will implement them with the passage of time.
Fletcher said, "At the moment, it is very important that people appreciate that there is not going to be any major changes. I have checked with Gary Kirsten and I watched their performances. I have got some ideas, and make changes, if necessary."
India is currently the number one ranked Test team in the world and also won the World Cup this year. It makes Fletcher’s job very difficult because he has to make sure that http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mahendra-Singh-Dhoni-c73820 and company do not face any slump in performance.
There are a number of big names representing India at the moment and one of the biggest challenges for Fletcher will be to get along well with them.
The Indian coach said that he has handled great players in the past and the most important thing is to give and get respect from the team.
"I think it is something that you got to work on as time progresses. I have handled big players elsewhere as well. I think you've got to develop this kind of man- management. The first thing is that you got to gain their respect and they got to gain my respect,”
Fletcher added.
