Duncan Fletcher hopes Rohit Sharma will find his way back to form - Cricket News Update
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/RG-Sharma-c2309, has immense talent and is hopeful that the player will overcome his batting woes in the future assignments.
Five years ago, Sharma burst onto the Indian cricket scene as a young batsman with a huge potential destined for greatness, and he was considered as a possible successor of the legendary http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SR-Tendulkar-c2556.
The batting prowess and talent of the struggling batsman can only be gauged from the fact that he averages almost 60 in his first-class career, but has failed to translate that form at the international level.
The Nagpur-born batsman has yet to capitalise on the opportunities in the absence of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Yuvraj-Singh-c98364, who was diagnosed with cancer last year and is now vying to make a comeback.
There have been loud calls to axe the 25-year-old given his recent form, but the he enjoys considerable backing from skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MS-Dhoni-c2028 and Coach Duncan Fletcher, both of whom have shown faith in the player to turn around his lean patch.
"People must consider that he has played well for us in the one-day side before. You have a look at him when he has batted under pressure for us while batting second; so it [his poor form] is not [the result of] a pressure situation,” Fletcher said.
Rohit Sharma continued his miserable run with the bat and managed only 37 runs in 5 ODIs at a shocking average of just 2.60. The right-handed batsman from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Maharashtra-c811 is now averaging 30.84 in 85 ODIs and has scored only 164 runs in the 13 ODIs at an average
of 13.66 this year.
The Indian coach however, said that writing-off Sharma won’t be a wise thing to do and believes that highs and lows in a player’s career are just part of the game, further wanting the critics to be patient.
“It is like most cricketers go through a dip in form and suddenly it just hangs in there and they are put under pressure. I am sure Rohit will come out of that situation," the coach concluded.
