http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Duncan-Andrew-Gwynne-Fletcher-c54742 is pleased to be back on the winning ways - Cricket News Update
Indian coach, Duncan Fletcher, is pleased with the way his team has responded against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758, despite a lengthy lay-off, and feels the 4-1 drubbing of the Islanders in the five-match ODI series would set the tone for the long season ahead.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 had not played any cricket since March, and after unimpressive showings in CB Series and Asia Cup, there were fears of a sudden dip in form for the Men in Blue however, the recent results would quash all such assertions.
Fletcher, the former http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 coach, also feels relieved to be back on the winning ways and thinks that his side’s brilliant start of the season would help them sustain their form.
"I think it was a very good win from the point of view that we had had a long break [and there was] some sort of nervousness to see how they would start the season,” the 63-year-old coach said.
The Indian team's winning prospects were further reinforced with the arrival of its star opening batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Irfan-Pathan-c1601 timed it well to regain his lost form, emerging as the most successful
bowler of the series.
The Men in Blue faced a few injury scares at the start of the year, but Fletcher was content with the fitness-level of his players.
“Obviously [we were] going to arrive here a little bit unfit. We have worked on the fitness regime and the results have proven [as much] here. They have played some good cricket," the former Zimbabwean international said.
The Indian coach was particularly impressed with the way http://www.senore.com/Cricket/V-Kohli-c2737 has carried his form in to the series. Kohli was declared Player of the Series after scoring 296 runs at an average of 74.00.
"Normally players can go through short spells where they do well and then lose that form but he has maintained it which is very good," Fletcher concluded.
The Men in Blue will fly back to play their first home series of the season against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754, with the first Test starting in three week’s time.
