The newly-appointed Indian coach, Duncan Fletcher, has revealed that his first priority as coach will be to develop the young talent in the team that is touring http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 for the one-day international (ODI) series.
Earlier http://www.senore.com/Cricket/G-Gambhir-c1447 was given the responsibility to lead the side to their first international outing after the recent World Cup triumph but the classy left-hander was ruled out of the whole tour due to a severe shoulder injury. In the absence of senior
players, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SK-Raina-c2539 will lead the young Indian side in the five-match ODI series, starting from June 6, 2011.
Board of Control for Cricket in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 (BCCI) recently appointed Fletcher as national team coach for the next two years. Fletcher believes that with a tough international scheduled, the team has to include youngsters in the line-up in order to keep senior
players fit and fine for the big games.
"It`s important to do that considering the heavy schedule. We need to look into the matter as we go into the future. While I was in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013, I started the rotation policy resting senior guys. I was heavily criticised by the English authorities," Fletcher
said.
Furthermore, he described that there is huge bunch of talent in India and aimed to polish the skills of young players.
Meanwhile, he warned Indian side against complacency as the Windies will prove to be a tough opposition at their home conditions.
"India have a plan to stay at the top. The young players have the potential and this tour will show the depth of talent we have. But any team playing at home is difficult to beat so we should not be complacent," ” the 62-year old coach added.
The Men are Blue are scheduled to meet Caribbean XI in the five-match ODI series followed by three Test matches.
Fletcher also termed the West Indies tour as a great opportunity for young guns like http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Subramaniam-Badrinath-c91587 to make a mark at the international level.
