Duncan Fletcher needs more time and space to produce results – Cricket News Update
Indian batting maestro, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Duncan-Andrew-Gwynne-Fletcher-c54742, after the Men in Blue recently marked a defeated tour of England, which came as the Zimbabwean former cricketer’s first assignment with
the side, soon after taking over the designation from the preceding Coach, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Gary-Kirsten-c58527.
In a recent interview with the PTI, Dravid stated that Fletcher already holds an experienced past, evident to which was his triumphant stint with England, which included an imposing Ashes win against the Australian side in 2005.
For the matter, Dravid feels that it is too early to judge Fletcher, merely on his first routed task with the Men in Blue.
During England’s recent home series against the Indian tourists, the Poms retained an exceptional streak of wins throughout the competition, handing over a bag of defeats to the tourists, across all formats of the sport.
However, Coach Fletcher is now faced with another major responsibility as India takes on the England in the ongoing One Day International (ODI) series, in a bid to mark their reprisal for the recent loss.
As for Dravid, who marked his last appearance for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 in England, under the ODI format, stood out to be only causal batsman on the roster, while other senior players failed to offer much, especially after suffering a streak of injuries.
However, the 38-year-old admitted that his side did post a disappointing spell of performances and that the English deserved what they achieved.
“Obviously, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 are a very good team at present. They played some very good cricket and you need to give them credit. They outplayed us in all departments of the game. They showed better skills during that series,” comprehended Dravid.
Dravid, who is commonly known as the wall, now feels that his national side might have a better chance to beat the Poms on their own backyard, but the challenge will come with a tough bout.
“The Indian team (against England) is quite young because of lot of injuries but I hope we will be able to perform well. But it won't be easy because England are a very good team at the moment. They are playing very good cricket and they are well prepared.
So it will be a challenge,” said Dravid.
