Duncan Fletcher, the newly appointed Indian coach, wants his team to browbeat the mighty English skipper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Somerset-c843.
As Strauss is going to play for Somerset, an English County team, against the tourists, in a 2-day game at County Ground, Taunton, Fletcher thinks that it is an ideal opportunity for the Men in Blue to put psychological pressure on him.
Team http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 to play a mega series of 4 Tests, 5 ODIs and a T20I. The series will start with the 1st Test match at Lord’s on July 21, 2011.
Strauss, who has just discarded the ODI captaincy to focus on his Test career, is h**l-bent to defeat India at home grounds in a bid to take his side to the top of the International Cricket Council’s Test rankings.
The Indian coach opines that it is necessary to scare Strauss in order to contain the English.
Fletcher said, “The problem really lies with Straussy. If he feels he's really got a problem, it's more a concern for him than us at this stage. You've got to respect Straussy for wanting to be loaned out to face this attack.”
He further told, “You've got to show him respect and we've just got to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Try-c94438 and get him out early. In terms of who has got the most to gain (from Strauss playing), I just think it's a 50-50 call from the point of view of, if he gets out early, there is a
chance we will have something over him.”
Fletcher, who had coached England for some years before turning to India, has a lot of experience working with Strauss and he knows some of the English captain's weak points well. Now, it is the time for Fletcher to use his past experience against the English.
After landing on English soil yesterday, Fletcher said that he was feeling strange to return to the place where he started from.
This series is going to be the second overall and the first hefty adventure of Fletcher as a coach of the world’s top-ranked Test team.
