Dundee management and players let go
Dundee has made manager Gordon Chisholm and assistant manager Billy Dodds redundant, while nine players have had their contracts terminated.
The decision was taken after the first division side entered administration last week, having failed to pay Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs tax bill.
Dundee players Brian Kerr, Mickael Antoine-Curier, Dominic Shimmin, Njazi Kuqi, Colin McMenamin, Paul McHale, Eric Paton, Scott Fox and Charlie Grant will all have their contracts terminated.
It has been suggested that the club’s tax bill, which amounts to £365,000 could be worse, as Dundee is believed to have total debts of £2 million.
Dodds said, "We're angry and people have to be made accountable. We don't have regrets about taking the job, but questions need to be answered."
Dundee administrator, Bryan Jackson said, "We must get money in the door before Christmas. That is the deadline we have set as of now."
"I cannot stress enough how much the club needs the support of Dundee and its people, and how short a period we have before the money runs out," added Jackson.
The club have also let kit man Neil Cosgrove and youth coach John Holt go. Four players on loan at the club have yet to receive confirmation over their future at Dundee.
Assistant manager Dodds, who came to the club with Gordon Chisholm in March, said, "I've been involved in a few highs and lows in football. This is the lowest point in my career.”
The former Scottish international admitted that Dundee had been forced make the cuts.
"There is no doubt it's a grim situation and this had to be done for the club to go on. For the club to survive people have to go, it's as simple as that.”
"But as long as this club survives, that's the main thing, from an overall perspective," he said.
Dundee’s future is still very much in the balance, despite the severe cuts they have imposed.
