  1. slow and steady will improve your puts. I've been playing for a few days now and i find that helps a lot. I have a vortex putter which i purchased for under $10, and i am awesome on the fairways and greens.

  2. Welcome to the world of golf...

Ah, I believe that we are talking about head weight.

The grip, & the shaft bears an enormous amount of weight...vs. the weight of the putter head alone.  If you actually remove the putter head off the shaft, you would actually say, my gosh...this is heavy...how come I can't feel this weight?  well, the rest of your putter take that feel away.

If you balance the entire length of the putter across your finger, you will find the center of gravity of your putter.  Make a mark with a sharpy, tape..etc.   Then find a place on your putter head, that will allow you to put lead tape on it, with out causing an eyesore to you.  By starting this move, you will be able to guage the center of gravity moving towards the head of the putter.  Thus, feeling more of the head during your backswing.  But, b'careful...not to make it into a sledgehammer...

  3. I'm not sure what you mean by "flat head", but the simplest way to add weight to a putter is to add led tape to the putter directly to the back of the putter where the sweet spot would be. Add as much as you like to achieve a weight the feels more substantial. You can find a any golf shop.

A more elaborate (but more effective) method is to fill the shaft with sand. You'll most likely have to remove the grip to do this. It will give your putter a completly different feel. If you are not comfortable replacing your own grip then take it to your local golf shop.

  4. If you need more weight at the head of the putter you would benefit greatly from a mallet style putter. (This is the putter that looks like a D if you are looking down on it)

Many people switch from a traditional blade or cavity style putter and say the extra weight helps them with a smoother swing.

However, everyone is different, if I were you I would go to the local golf store with a practice putting green and try out the mallet putters along with the cavity and blade to see which is better suited for you.

  5. You could consult with  with your golf store or local pro shop before you do any investing in new  stuff. They both have lead tape which you can use to add some weight to your putter. Add a fair amount. Then try putting with the heavier club. If it still feels too light have them add a little more until you find the proper feel . The reason for suggesting a professional is for getting a balanced putter head. You don't want either more toe or heel weight which could louse up your stroke forever!! If after all this, you aren't satisfied go for a new putter which feel right to you.
