Duplicate in lieu of damaged indian passport?

I applied for a duplicate passport at CGI, Toronto 6 months ago. Has anyone ever gotten a duplicate passport from a consulate outside india issued in lieu of a damaged one ? If so, how much time did it take? The consulate has no idea. And I was wondering if I need to do something about it?

Did you get from India? and now your in Canada ?

I would try the passport office it should not take very long

Not 6 months , Go to the passport office and get more answers

well, i got my passport in India 6 years ago. I am in Canada right now, so I applied or the duplicate passport at the Consulate general of India in Toronto. And I submitted my old (damaged) passport as well. The consulate had sent it to india as per procedure. But it has been 6 months now and the consulate says they did not receive the duplicate passport yet.
