  1. Good question.

Bicycle bottom brackets come in several different thread configurations (measurements of the diameter and thread pitch).  These include English, French, Swiss and Italian.  French is largely obsolete and unless you have a bike that is 30 years old you don't have French thread.

English is almost universal these days, as it is used on American, English, Chinese, Taiwanese, Japanese, and more products.  You will typically find Italian thread only on a traditional steel Italian made frame.  Many of the aluminum Italian frames, and almost all of the carbon Italian frames, now feature English thread (because they are really made in Taiwan, not Italy).  My "Italian" Kuota and my wife's "Italian" Colnago both have English bottom brackets.

So, short answer, unless it's an unusual bike English thread is what you have.

When you install it don't forget that the cup on the drive side (right side) is reverse threaded.  So you will turn it clockwise to remove it and counterclockwise to install it.  The pedals are the opposite of this, with the reverse threading on the non-drive (left) side.

Dura Ace is great stuff.  Happy riding.
