“Durability is more important than ability,” says Arizona Diamondbacks’ pitcher Ian Kennedy
The Arizona Diamondbacks’ pitcher Ian Kennedy has played a very vital role for his team in this year’s Spring Training. He was fast and accurate with his pitching. Having five years’ of experience, he knows how a balanced rotation can win games for any team.
Lately some reporters have interviewed Kennedy and asked couple of questions regarding his game and also about his club’s chances in this year’s Major League Baseball season.
Not only Kennedy explained in detail about his game, but during the conversation, he also described in detail about the Diamondbacks’ chances in the upcoming big event.
Kennedy said with confidence, "We have a sign that says, 'Durability is more important than ability,' I think that speaks for itself. You see a lot of guys that have good talent and they could be All-Stars, but they're stuck in the minor leagues because they're getting hurt every year."
He added, “That's something I think our team does really well, I think our whole organization does. Everything that happens here in the (major-league) weight room and training room goes on down on the minor leagues. There's no separation. The same things are being taught here and there, and I think all those things are great."
To understand fully what Kennedy has said in his latest statement, some experts want to verify as how many Minor Leaguers were injured last year. The Diamondbacks’ farm system is relatively good if compared to other National League West teams, but getting players inured is the only problem that needed to be solved soon.
While on the whole, Kennedy’s remarks are fair saying his team is prepared for the big event and working hard. The Diamondbacks’ struggle during the Spring Training also was witnessed by many experts. Though they started their Spring Training little wild, but within a week they recovered and started performing.
Now since the Training Camps are over and every franchise is looking to compete well in the 2012 MLB regular season, the Diamondbacks’ management is also trying to give their players enough confidence staying on top with every stage of the season.
