I bought one of the 50 dollar ones at Wal-mart because it had a cd player and an auxilary inport. Is this better than the factory tape player one without a cd player in a 1996 buick lesabre? If it is better why??? If it is worse why??? Please help me and explain

  1. Yes, it's better, because CD sound quality is better than cassette, and because it gives you the option to add an external source like an MP3 player.  It also makes it easier to add an amplifier for your speakers or a subwoofer, if you want.

No, it's not better, because the factory radio is larger and will have an easier-to-read display and easier-to-use controls.  The factory radio will also be better at AM/FM radio reception.  The build quality of the factory radio is, in my opinion, probably better than that of the Chinese-made Durabrand deck.

It's up to you whether the ability to play CDs and use your MP3 player outweighs the loss in ease-of-use and radio reception.

By the way, does the new deck have station presets for the radio?  Some of the very cheapest Chinese import decks use an analog tuner with a digital display, so there are no presets.  If yours is like this, and you listen to the radio often, then you should return this deck.  The analog tuners are horrible when you're trying to tune in your stations, and they'll lose the station again easily.
