Question:

Durabrand DVD Recorder Problems?

I have just purchased a Durabrand DVD Recorder from Asda last week.... model - LEDVDR0702. I have recorded several movies from my Sky + Box onto DVD so that I can gain the space back on my hardrive.

I have just attempted to watch back what I have recorded using TESCO own DVD - R and the playback is faulty (I tried watching two films), as the film plays it seems to jump forward by 5 or 10 minutes for no reason and also I am getting slight pixelation and at one point it just froze. Does anyone know if this could be a problem with the discs I am using or could it be a problem with the player/recorder??? This is really frustrating so any help would be appreciated(also I still have the receipt so could return the item).

Thanks in anticipation.

  1. You may need to use DVD+R as your new recorder will probably have progressive scan built into the chip - buy a few DVD+R from a pound shop and give them a try.

Also previous answerer was correct Sky do encrypt their movie signal.

If all else fails return the goods - ASDA are very 'goods return friendly'

  2. You bought a DVD player from a supermarket??

Would you buy groceries from a TV shop?

    Why not?

    OK, so that's your problem...

  3. Sounds like a fault with the player, however i have another thought - I seem to remember once that you once couldn't record from sky film channels because they transmitted some form of copy protection - so before u condemn the player, try it from BBC first.

Incidenty, I have used tesco +r DVD disks on my HDD DVD recorder without problem, but I do find them expensive compared to my usual supplier.
