During Asian travel, can a US traveler easily get a Tourist visa for a few days layover in Shanghai ? ?

  1. I don't think is hard to get a visa for few days. All what they ask is to have you fill out a form and provide the following:

    Hotel reservation or an affidavit from your friend or Family in China stating that they invite you and you will be staying in their place.

    Air tickets showing your name, arrival and departure date.

    If your a US citizen, provide passport. If you a resident of the US, need also a copy of a green card

    Fees for US citizen is 130 and non citizen only 30.  


  2. Unfortunately, no.  Entry to China, even for a short trip, requires applying for a visa and paying the entry fee of $130.

    However, Hong Kong does not require a visa application and you can enter it for up to 90 days without one.
