Okay, so I'm doing my summer reading project and I'm so frustrated because I have to ask three questions per chapter and then answer them. Well, I can't seem to find some answers. So I'm going to start asking them on here and I would really appreciate the help :)

the book that I had to read is called Gideon's Trumpet by Anthony Lewis.

  1. Great book, but strange project. Why didn't teacher give you questions?  Too lazy?

As to the SC, they publish their opinion.  There is a majority and minority (dissent) opinion typically published.  One judge writes each for each side. Sometimes the minority doesn't publish, and sometimes there will be more than two judges writing opinions, but this doesn't happen very much.

Do the justices have a conference discussing the questions of the case?  What they do is ask very tedious and very detailed technical questions to the attorneys appearing before them "en banc"...in front of all of them.  They all hear what the others ask prior to their votes.

I do not know of any situation where they discussed their votes with every other justice in some sort of formal conference.  If there ever was one, it might have been the Gore-Bush issue from Florida.
