  1. I have never used a spirit board for anything but fun. Sometimes they produce results, but they have also been scientifically explained as working off the very slight, unnoticeable impulses in your brain.

If you don't want to use the scientific explanation, it is important to keep in mind the many tales of Ouija boards causing mischief - and then some. Some of the members of our investigation team have family members which claim to have been contacted by 'something' through the Ouija board that has told them to do things, go certain places at certain times, etc. One reported ripping the board in half and having the board bleed after going to a location and time the board suggested and meeting a strange person there.

In my own personal experiences, it is best not to use a Ouija board on an investigation. An interesting alternative that I have tried with limited results is putting two chalk boards face to face and rubber banding them together with a small piece of chalk on the inside. It's best to leave the chalkboards somewhere and go investigate and come back. I've never gotten any words, but I have gotten a few face pictures, etc. Hope this informatio helps!

  2. An investigation is not the place for a ouija board.   That would be like blowing smoke in front of your camera and hoping to get a picture of a face.  Eventually you would "see" one.   A paranormal investigation should be strictly scientific with  strict guidelines for evidence that doesn't include any members' own interpretations.

  3. Not if you want to be taken seriously.  They are not dangerous but very unreliable.

  4. It's okay with me if you want to.

But what impression do you want to give as an investigator? Do you want to approach it scientifically or do you want to appear like a mystic?  If the former, you're just making yourself look silly. Ouija boards just works off of ideomotor effect and power of suggestion and they don't conjure spirits. There is nothing scientific about using them. If the latter, well it's certainly mystical but do you want to do a good investigation or do you simply want to cast an impression?

My advice is to save Ouija boards for fun time and leave them home if you do an investigation.

  5. If you know how they work you will know that they are not an effective tool since the planchette is pushed around consciously or more often subconsciously (if they are believers in the paranormal) by the participants.
