During a thunder storm??

However the electricity from the lightening will disrupt the picture on the plasma TV.

It depends on how bad it is. I usually keep mine on. Especially if there is a bad storm, i like keeping it on just in case a weather report breaks in, so i will know what is going on. I personally don't see a problem with it.

If the storm knocks the power out in your neighborhood, it would be a good idea to unplug all your major appliances including your refrigerator.

The power surge that could come when the power returns could be costly.

and common sense says that it will be safe to keep it off than turn it on.
