  1. If the fuel selector on the operating engine is in "Crossfeed" it is drawing fuel from the other side (IE the side with the dead engine).

Once you go into single engine operations, it is important to monitor your fuel consumption to ensure that you draw fuel from both tanks (think of how it's done in a Piper Warrior or Arrow).

  2. no it receives fuel from the opposing fuel nacelle. Hence cross feed.

  3. No.  The good engine feeds from the bad engine's tank.  To receive fuel from its own tank it will have to be in the normal on position.

  4. The fuel system in a Seminole is quite simple.  Each fuel selector is to choose where that ENGINE gets fuel.  For example, the left fuel selector position tells you where the left engine is getting its fuel.  Off means just that - no fuel is getting past the fuel selector valve.  On means that the left engine is drawing fuel from the left tank.  Crossfeed means the left engine is drawing fuel from the right tank.

The fuel selector is an three position valve.  This means there is no "combination" position.  The engine is either getting fuel from its corresponding tank, from the opposite tank, or no fuel at all.  There is no "in between" where you can draw from two tanks at the same time.

  5. Coffee is correct on this.

You always should think of the crossfeed selector as supplying an engine, rather than drawing from a tank.  If you open your crossfeed, you will be supplying the engine across from whichever tank you are using.
