  1. I'll try to answer your question...

as i know, the hypnotherapist will help the client who has problems by "waking it up" to consciousness. then, the client will feel free to tell him what's the real matters she tried to bury. and she'll express her feelings about that event. when she has had finished her problem about the event, she'll feel more relax because at last she can let her emotions, thoughts, opinions about her issue being expressed. sometimes, people can feel uneasy just because they try to bury it...  in the deep down unconsciousness.

hope my answer can make u satisfy...

  2. There are several psychological perspectives that deal with therapy and trauma. Each has their own terminology and varying approaches. But in general, best outcomes result from processes in which the "patient" is encouraged to relive the traumatic event/s in one form or another. Unfortunately it is often emotionally painful. To "relive" a trauma means that it is not only experienced cognitively but emotionally as well.  The process often must be repeated several times, but the prognosis can be very good (e.g., no more nightmares, becomes more social, less hypervigilent, less depressed,  less irritable, etc.).

There are many different ways to describe why this works, depending on your theortical perspective. In general, perhaps it could be said that the trauma looses its emotional importance.

It takes time, but worth it.

    Good luck.
