During mid-August New York Yankees’ Alex Rodriguez may return – MLB News
New York Yankees’ third baseman Alex Rodriguez is expected to make a return by the mid August after he had a surgery to repair a tear in his knees. The surgery was carried out on July 11 and was said to take at least six weeks to recover.
While Greg Golson was immediately brought in to replace Rodriguez, promoted from Triple-A Scranton, he has had a relatively better season. But for all the right reasons, it is Rodriguez who has to return sooner than later to keep the Yankees floating.
Having played 80 games so far, the Yankees star has remained 305 at-bats since the start of the season. He has had 90 hits and 53 runs to his credit, having 52 RBIs to his credit and no less than 13 home-runs.
The player, in this season, holds an average of .295 with .485 SLG and .852 OPS. His career record, all the same, is a wonderful read.
The player has 2383 games played with 9131 at-bats and 1810 runs to his credit with 2762 hits and no less than 626 home-runs and 1883 RBIs. His .302 average, if nothing else, proves the fact that he is one of the significant components of the Yankees.
When he fell victim to injury, the Yankees third baseman had won six of the last 10 games he played.
According to the general manager Brian, "He's in a pool. He's on a bike. (He's) still got a little bit of a limp, which is normal. But I'd be looking at him (returning) maybe the second week of August, you know, at the earliest for me," Cashman said.
It was his knee that took him away from the team. However, all this while, New York has maintained their extraordinary performance and has added an exciting ingredient in the mix of both a strong offence and defence.
The Yankees currently stand third in the Major League Baseball ranking with 60 wins to their credit and 40 losses. Previously superseding the Red Sox, now the Yankees are trailing behind by two wins.
The Red Sox lead the AL standings with 62 wins in their credit and stand second in the MLB ranking. As Rodriguez is now expected to come in the second week of August, the Yankees, in the meanwhile, will rely on the other players to guide them to the victory
and also move ahead to the Red Sox in the AL standings.
