our drill instructors brought gasoline in the squadbay to use to clean our rifles. gasoline gets rifle immaculate but it is against regulations to use it. we had a few recruits in the head at night with very little light cleaning the whole platoon's rifles. my question is, if i would have reported this illegal activity to my series commander, would that have made me a disgrace to the Marine Corps?

  1. ummmm not sure

  2. That falls under the fraud wast and abuse category. You can report any activity like that to the Inspecting general, or your chain of command with out any repercussions on you.

There are solvents that smell and look a lot like gasoline that are authorized. I would make sure that what the drill instructors brought you was gasoline before trying to report it, because if you make a false report it could get you in trouble.

       Good luck.

  3. You'll be able to answer that a couple years after you're out, but then the brainwashing goes away. Well, unless you're a tool bag.

That's how it worked for me, but honestly this **** happens all the time unless they are beating you, which doesn't happen that much anymore, not too many people care.

Plus the boot camp rifles are S****y army surplus rifles and aren't worth a d**n.

  4. You are a disgrace and a maggot for even questioning the direction and love your DI is showing you.  Perhaps your rifle understands his true love better than you.  Sempre FI

  5. You're a disgrace for even considering not reporting it or at least confronting him about it before reporting it.  If the Marine Corps are all about not following rules, you can all stuff yourselves.

  6. In all honesty, yes.

You would have branded a NON-TEAM PLAYER. There will be times that you will see things that are in violation of a regulation but are overlooked for the greater good. (The example you gave, a very GOOD one.)

If the gas had not been brought in, and the weapons not cleaned then you would not have been able to continue with the training until the weapons had been cleaned.

You will  have to make hard decisions and choices during your career. The only thing I will say is that if you think it is wrong enough to speak out against, then do so.
