  1. Suffered like everyone else.

  2. What is the question?

Or are you just patting your self on the back for things you are suppose to do.

  3. Well, Jim Crow laws were still in effect at that time, so people other than whites often had extremely low-paying jobs anyway - or had jobs like being someone's driver, maid, or farm worker.  Some worked in bars, restaurants, and speak-easies.

They definitely didn't make strides in equal rights legislation, as this didn't come until the 60s (Civil Rights Movement, Martin Luther King Jr., etc.).  They weren't encouraged to start their own businesses...nobody was.  Businesses were failing right and left and people were losing everything they had.

They worked at jobs or in homes that were owned by white people, most of the time...if they lost their job, it was because the white person lost their business and/or their house.  If the white person couldn't afford to pay a minority person at that time, they certainly couldn't afford to replace them with another white person.

So honestly, I'd have to say #3.  Because most minorities at that time either worked for a wealthier white person or owned a business that was largely supported by their community (grocery store, laundry, restaurant, whatever), I would have to say that they were less affected.  They likely didn't have their money in a bank, and though the Depression was difficult for everyone, many of them didn't lose the shirt off their back when stock market fell and the banks went under.

I suggest you read some historical fiction about that time - it will explain what was going on a lot better than most textbooks will.

    Hope that helps!

  4. During the "Great Depression of the 30's those words were not even known or used, it has only been in recent years. During the depression there were no jobs except for the WPA. These were low paying jobs in various fields, mainly labor. The WPA was set up mainly by President Roosevelt and stood for "Work Progress Administration". I know because I was raised in that time period.
