During the Rugby World Cup games there has been a horn which sounds and the crowd responds with an 'OLE!'?

Can anyone tell me what this represents or means??

  2. yeah i heard it many times i think it sounds Arabic.

    I  enjoy it when the crowd responds it makes some good entertainment.

    they do it at rugby matches, football matches, at both professional and amateur level.

    it's just like when we english go 'de.de.de-de-de.de-de.de-de ENGLAND!' or somthing :)

  4. Good question, I like the horn and the OLE. It would probably require some research or hopefully some french fans in here might have an idea.

    I might be wrong....  I am just making a guess and giving my opinion here but:

    It might have a spanish influence from bullfighting. I think that the crowds in the bullfighting in spain do something similar and this is where it originated.

    Not sure though so somebody prove me wrong if I'm way off.
