During the average wildfire, how much area is actually BURNING at any given time? Is there an average?

Such as, many many acres might be charred in the aftermath, but how much of it is actually on fire at any point?

  1. In my experience (8 or 10)- fires. grass or stubble the actual width of the fire is 6 to 15 feet assuming it's being pushed by even a slight wind as the fire will create it's own draft once it starts moving. If there is small trees/shrubs they could still be burning/smoldering for  a couple hours. If the trees are larger over 3"- 4" diameter they could burn/smolder for several hours or even a couple days depending on conditions humidity etc. Hope this helped.
