  1. Heck no! You don't want to damage the coolant at all using just water. Tell your boyfriend this. Would you rather me use water which will work for a while but in the long run will damage the coolant? (forcing you to replace it) or just keep buying antifreeze.

  2. NO IT IS NOT OK.the  antifreeze is not only to protect from freezing but to raise the boiling point of the liquid.you must use a minimum of 50% water 50% antifreeze and you will be ok year round.

  3. Your BF is uneducated in the coolant department> It is an anti rust & water pump lubicrant also> So spent the $ and it will save you in the long run> 1 gal is only maybe $10.00

water pumps are $40.00 to hundreds??

  4. water is ok by itself cuz it does cool better than antifreeze/coolant.

these late model cars need both cuz need lubrication to internal water jacket of internal of the engine, water pump and radiator.

if you have a older 70's car then water is ok by itself.

if you have a late model car then you need both.

  5. Do not run straight water in your cooling system as it will quickly form rust. Antifreeze has anti-rust additive as well it has a higher boiling point.
