  1. Interphase.

Every chromosome makes a replica of itself before cell division begins, and the entire DNA is copied. At this stage the cell has twice the normal amount of DNA in it. Each chromosome has two identical parts called chromatids, held together by the centromere.

  2. They are already formed before mitosis begins.  This occurs during the S-phase of the cell cycle stage interphase.  Mitosis refers only to nuclear division.  The cell cycle is the big picture of cell growth, development, and reproduction.

  3. Interphase, namely the S phase. S= synthesis.

    Hope this helps!
