During whose reign were more people killed, Queen Victoria of Britain or Hirohito (WW2 emperor) of Japan?

A few days ago I asked in this forum how many people died in Queen Victoria's wars. Unfortunately I didn't receive an answer with a specific or an approximate number. So I am asking how many people died in Hirohito's wars (including the Asian part of WW2), and if it was more or less then people who died in Queen Victoria's wars.

  1. a few million Chinese died, and a few million of other nations in total in the war with Japan...so Hirohito wins hands down!

  2. Well, based on the bombings of Nagasaki and Hiroshima alone, Queen Vicky never had a chance in with this one.

I don't know much about Queen Victoria,  but I can guarantee you that she didn't have millions of casualties as did those who died under Hirohoto's government. You're not only including those who died in the Atomic Bombs, or the American Campaign, but also under Hirohoto was The Second Sino-Japanese War which killed 1,900,000 Japanese alone.

  3. defiantly Hirohito, there were more people to kill then.  In the Victorian wars there were fewer civilian causalities, than in  WWII,

  4. That is comparing apples with pears.

Available weapons and transportation  improved massively after Queen Victoria.

Most Victorian wars were relative small (colonial) wars.

The war during Hirohito's reign  were anything but small.

There was almost continiously a war going somewhere during queen Victoria's reign. While during the reign of Hirohito only one very big war happened.

  5. Well, I'm going to be a little tricky here--you question doesn't ask about who was more responsible.  Clearly the answer is Hirohito because you'd include all the fatalities from WW-2 (even those in Europe, those killed in the Holocaust).  Quite simply, more people were killed (by all sorts of casues, including warfare) during the 21st century (ie: Hirohito's rule) than that of Queen Vicky.

However, I sense that is not the intent of your question.  I suspect you're asking which ruler (Victoria or Hirohito) engaged in policies leading to more deaths.

Well, here's something few people realize--the Japanese in WW-2 killed more civilians (30 million, most of them Asian) than the Germans did (even with the Holocaust).  Oh, the Germans were far more systematic about it.  But even if you look at some of carnage that happened under Victoria's reign (Sepoy revolt and the violence that put it down), the British don't come even close to 30 million.

  6. First Hirohito never really committed war crimes. The US would have probably killed him if he did. If was mostly Generals and soldiers who killed Allied Soldiers and the Chinese. Tens of thousands of American soldiers died in prison camps. At the end of world war two Japan freed the last Chinese labors. Their were only 57 left and hundreds of thousand were forced into labor camps.
