Duronto Rajshahi v Sylhet Royals - http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kamran-Akmal-c70122 inspire Royals to their maiden win
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 born cricketers, Sohail Tanvir and Kamran Akmal inspired Sylhet Royals to their maiden win of the Bangladesh Premier League. The 24th match of the series being played at the Shere Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur saw Royals chase down a target of
125 runs inside 17 overs with nine wickets in hand.
Tanvir, the all-round cricketer, bowled with great heart and it was his four over spell that restricted Rajshahi to 124. The left-arm pacer claimed 4 scalps from his spell while conceding just 13 runs.
The wicket-keeper batsman, Kamran Akmal applied the finishing touches with a sizzling knock of 72 runs – which include seven fours and three massive sixes - from just 51 deliveries.
The man of the match honours were awarded to Tanvir, who was also the most economical bowler of the match.
Earlier in the day, Royals skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Alok-Kapali-c43787 won the toss and invited the opposition to have a bat first. Bowlers backed their skipper’s decision and made the early inroads, on a pitch that had some pace and bounce in it.
Rajshahi lost three of their top batters with just 25 runs on the board. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shahzaib-Hasan-c2488 showed some resistance to the Royals bowlers and scored 54 runs, but Rajshahi were left hot and dry when he got out in the 15th over. Some mighty blows from
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Abdul-Razzaq-c41623 (21) in the closing stages of the innings propelled Rajshahi to 124.
Chasing a minute total, the Royals got off to the perfect start that they would hope for. Akmal and his opening partner, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Peter-Trego-c2181, put on a stand of 52 runs for the first wicket. Trego was the only causality of the match for the Royals, as the batsman
got out after scoring 24 runs. Tom Maynard came in at number three and along with Akmal saw his side over the finish line.
Even though, Royals won the match quite comfortably and have brought an end to their 7 match losing streak. But the win at Mirpur won’t bring them any good, as they are already knocked out of the league.
Royals have two matches left to play in BPL; one of that game is against Chittagong Kings at the same venue on Saturday, February 25.
