Hi,
I'm having trouble turning on my laptop. I noticed I had to press the start button 2/3 times before it turned on (with battery or when plugged in), and then one day it just didn't turn on at all. I couldn't turn it on for a few days (nothing happens when you press start button). I then had the idea to blow into the keyboard just below the start button, to move any dust away: if I blow very hard several times I can now turn it on. I now have to blow into it quite a lot to be able to turn on the laptop....which is not practical, and I'm worried it may not work after a while.
I've tried compressed aire, but it doesn't seem to be as strong as blowing, it doesn't work. I've looked at taking the laptop apart to clean inside, but don't know how to get near the start button. Taking the back off doesn't allow access to the start button, and in the back it's not too dusty. (I have been living in West Africa for a while, where it is very dusty so think there is dust behind the keyboard).
The model doesn't have a panel that clicks off to remove the keyboard. Can't see how to remove it, or if that would help. It's a Philips freevents X59P, bought new in July 2006 and works well apart from the start button.
Thanks for your advice!
