Dustin Johnson, Charlie Wi and Danny Lee share lead in the first round at AT&T Pebble Beach
Round one of the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am came to an end, with three contenders finishing tied for the first position at the end of the day.
Danny Lee, Charlie Wi and Dustin Johnson were tied on top of the leaderboard with matching final scores of the first round, at the Spyglass Hill Golf Club, Pebble Beach, California.
“On a day like today, you expect everybody to play well,” said Johnson.
“I like it here. It’s one place I feel comfortable. I’ve just really enjoyed playing golf here. It’s gorgeous. The whole time you’re staring at the ocean. Especially on days like today, you couldn’t ask to be in a better place playing golf,” he added.
Johnson, a 27-year-old American professional golf player, is glad about his day-one performance. He enjoyed while competing against the others.
Three players are tied on the top, which makes this tournament more appealing for the spectators.
“I’d never been that successful at PCC, and I thought if I shoot 2, 3, 4 under, that would be a good score,” said Wi.
Wi, a 40-year-old South Korean professional golfer, achieved the honour of being on top for the first time. He is looking at his first Professional Golf Association’s Tour win.
He mostly plays on the European Tour and Asian Tour and is seeking to make his debut win at the PGA now.
His career is not so attractive but scoring seven birdies and an eagle is his best performance so far.
Another interesting factor is that he was at or under-par on every hole and also remained successful to save the bogeys.
Similarly, the first round was the best for Lee. He also delivered his best performance in the 2012 season by scoring five birdies and two impressive eagles.
He also managed to avoid making bogeys throughout the day.
Among the three leaders, Johnson is the only one who was unable to be at par on 12th hole. Nevertheless, his overall performance was brilliant.
Now there are three days left, the tournament will finish on Sunday. These three leaders are looking to defeat the rest and each other by maintaining their leads.
